Are you confused by f-stops, shutter speeds and ISO?
Have you got a really nice camera, but haven't moved the dial from the 'Auto' setting? I’ve been teaching people how to use their digital cameras for over 12 years now, helping them to become more creative and more importantly, to feel confident moving away from the 'Auto' setting.
Many people, who have invested significant money in their cameras, wonder why some of their images don’t come out the way they intended, but are too nervous to leave the comfort of ‘Auto’ and delve into some of the settings that will enable them to take more control of their photographs... |
Let's Change That Together!
These sessions are run for you...just you, at your pace either at your home or office... I'm happy to travel anywhere around Hertfordshire and London. (or if you prefer you can come to me in Croxley)
We'll cover a wide range of topics (it's a 6-hour session) and by the end of it, you'll have enough knowledge about your own camera and its settings to start producing better images, more often and more consistently.

There's lots of opportunity for hands-on practice and these sessions are perfect for anybody who wants to understand their camera a little more and take better photographs. I'll show you why your photos don't always come out the way you expected them to, and how to get more predictable results. |

FAQs
WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA WILL I NEED TO OWN?
You'll need a digital camera that allows you to adjust the aperture, shutter speed, ISO and metering, as well as the White Balance.
All Digital SLRs (D-SLRs) allow this, as well as Mirrorless System Cameras such as Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic plus some others.
Some 'enthusiast compact cameras' also allow plenty of adjustment so you can benefit from most of the session, but when you contact me we can double check to make sure you'll get good value.

HOW / WHEN DO I PAY FOR THE SESSION
Once we've agreed a suitable date I'll e-mail you payment details then, at least 14 days ahead of the session, I'll ask you for a 50% deposit, and you'll need to pay in full before the day itself.
Deposits are non-refundable as I will already have committed that day to your personal training and won't have been able to book anybody else in.

Great course! So glad we finally did something about learning how to use our camera. Would have been better BEFORE our summer holiday, but we now have the knowledge to get it right for the next holiday!! Stuck with a user manual that was over 300 pages long it was inevitable that usage of my digital camera was restricted to the auto setting or a few of the pre-programmed options. The beginners’ workshop was an excellent introduction to all the key elements you need to consider to achieve your desired result. Practical elements throughout brought the subject to life ensuring understanding of the theory and building my knowledge of how to get the best from my own camera. I’d happily recommended this course to anyone either starting out or stuck in the auto-mode rut. I was very impressed, it exceeded my expectations. I learnt a lot! Thank you. What I thought was most valuable was the clarity of explanation of what is quite a complex set of variables. Dave managed to put across the basics in a clearly thought out way, avoiding the chaos that can ensue from accumulated information. Practicing the techniques in the workshop helped clarify the issue, reinforcing the technical information which was extremely helpful. |
I can't recommend this course highly enough, it is informative, well structured and even for the technophobes such as myself makes, what is a fairly complex subject feel easier. I am now able to use my camera confidently, take reasonable photographs and understand how my camera works after this course. This course was great. I learnt so much practical information that I can take away and use. It was pitched at just the right level. There were times when it was quite fast paced, and I struggled to absorb it all but I would rather that and cover more information than go slow. It was good to try the techniques out too and this made the course more sociable as well... I would definitely recommend this course to a friend. Thank you so much Dave! I really enjoyed it and found it very useful. Would definitely recommend anyone and everyone! Dave did a great job in breaking down the complexity of photography and various techniques, and kept the session interactive, practical and exciting. |
